


An opportunity exists for someone self-driven and self-managed to develop and begin implementing a sustainable farming/forestry program in Hutan Subur.
Tasks include but are not limited to:
- Meeting with local farmers who are currently practising sustainable farming in our area to learn from their experiences and make connections
- Developing a plan for the sustainable harvesting of rubber currently on Hutan Subur Land
- Selection of crops appropriate to the climate and available markets
- Development of a detailed landscape plan consistent with permaculture principles and Maintainance of wildlife habitats
- Seek and apply where possible for grants or partnerships consistent with our plans
- Locating markets for our products through the help of the local people (who can we sell to)
- Identify cooperatives operating within our area or investigate the possibility of developing cooperatives.
- Manage crops, including the vegetable gardens, to maintain optimal health for the plants and soils organically
- Assist in the recruitment and training of local farm manager
- Develop plans for the engagement of other local farmers in sustainable farming practices
Your day may look like the following:
8.00 am Breakfast |
9.00 – 11.00 am Maintaining a vegetable garden, newly planted trees and nursery |
4 PM-6 PM – Post to social media, connect with other organisations in the area and look for grants or funding that may support this project |
1 PM- Lunch |
6.30 pm- Dinner |
11.00-1 PM – collect fruits, vegetables, seeds and other products. Share produce with others in the area or send to the market |

In the evening, volunteers share their experiences of their volunteer work during the day, play some cards or games or relax and read a book |
